The 12 Best Coffee Shops in Fort Worth
In the last ten years, the Fort Worth coffee scene has grown significantly, becoming a great mix of shops with various atmospheres, beverages, and overall vibes. No matter what style of shop you’re looking for, Fort Worth has it these days. From ole faithful spots like Avoca, who helped pioneer the third wave coffee scene in town, to recent new comers like Match Point Coffee that opened up earlier this month, Fort Worth's coffee culture is flourishing, making it a great place for those looking for a quality cup in a great environment.
Here’s our list of top 12 coffee shops in town:
Fort Worth Coffee Co.
I start with Fort Worth Coffee Co. because if I’m being honest (and biased), it’s my go-to. That might have something to do with it being about 2 blocks from my house, but it also has everything to do with the sentimental value that before it became FWCC, it was the original Craftwork Coffee Co. location. For those of y’all that don’t know, Craftwork was on the forefront (among a couple others) of bringing craft coffee shops to Fort Worth. Years ago, they sold the shop to Craftwork’s head roaster and he’s been running a killer shop with Fort Worth Coffee Co. since then. Quality cup of black coffee, great lattes, and a good environment and space to get work done.
Avoca
Speaking of being on the forefront of the craft coffee scene, Avoca will always hold a special place in my heart as one of the first coffee shops I would post up in for hours when I first moved to Fort Worth over 10 years ago. This spot is your classic early third wave coffee shop with comfy worn in couches, a warm feel, and big open spaces to spend hours on end. They roast their own coffee in house. In contracts with the “modern” third wave coffee shops that prioritize clean and modern environments, this one is much more of a classic cozy feel with a great cup of joe. They now have three locations across Fort Worth: the original Magnolia location, West 7th location on Foch, and one in the bustling Mule Alley area of The Stockyards.
Magnolia Location: 1311 W Magnolia Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104
West 7th Location: 835 Foch St, Fort Worth, TX 76107
Stockyards Location: 128 E Exchange Ave Suite 560, Fort Worth, TX 76164
Cherry Coffee Co
Moving down the list of spots born out of the old Craftwork, Cherry Coffee Co was originally the second Craftwork location. With a change of ownership, expansion and renovation, you can still get the bones of the old shop, but Cherry Coffee has a reborn greatness that feels welcoming every time you come in. They recently acquired a roastery and now roast their own coffee in house, which is top notch. Similar to Fort Worth Coffee Co, this is always a spot that will be packed with a mix of folks working and others meetings to catch up over great coffee.
Sons Coffee
When Sons coffee first came to town, it almost felt like the edgy, design-forward version of the shops that were in town at the time. The primary concrete, high ceilings made for a great space to meet or knock out some work downtown if you were looking for somewhere with more buzz. When they initially opened, I remember thinking how wild it was that all they served was Onyx, which is still one of the top roasters in the city. When they started roasting their own beans, they had big shoes to fill to match the same flavor Onyx brings to the table - and they hit the mark (all with great design and branding).
Crude Craft Coffee Bar
Whether it’s true or not, in my head Crude Craft Coffee Bar was the first coffee shop to open up on South Main. I remember at the time being confused by the location - “Over by Rahr and Sons? But there’s nothing really over there?”. Man oh man I had no idea about the future fate for the now-popular and buzzy South Main strip. The Crude team was just ahead of the trend and created a great staple on the street ahead of the many others to join. Be sure to check out their creatively concocted seasonal drinks. This is a spot I enjoy working at, but especially like towards the evening with how cozy and comfortable the vibe is.
Roots Coffeehouse
Roots Coffeehouse is another South Main staple these days. Though it has a bit of a smaller space to sit and enjoy your coffee, it’s a great grab and go spot in the heart of SOMA (South Main). The building itself is a sight to see and the cool part behind the structure is that it shares the space with other businesses in the back - with a bookable conference room as part of the Roots offering. This is a great spot to grab a cup and stroll South Main. Not to mention, the staff is always extremely welcoming and warm.
Location: 400 Bryan Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104
Casa Azul Coffee
Appropriately named, Casa Azul is situated in an older style home just on the edge of The Stockyards. Outside of the Avoca outpost in Mule Alley, this is the only coffee shop within The Stockyards area and fortunately, it’s a couple blocks away from all the hustle and bustle making it easily accessible. I’m not sure about you, but I’m always a sucker for a coffee shop within a home, especially with old wood floors. Something about it just feels right. Casa Azul adds a Latino flare to their coffee shop with their coffee flavors (see, Churro Latte, etc.), interior design, and the great pastries they offer. Be sure to check out the patio while we’re enjoying this great weather right now.
Location: 300 W Central Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76164
Race Street Coffee
Race Street has gone through several different identity changes in the past several years. Restaurants have come and gone, but Race Street Coffee remains steadfast. In addition to great coffee roasted by Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters, they have small bites like seasonal toasts to compliment their beverages. Check out their socials to see other happenings - recently they hosted a yoga and brunch along with a candle making class.
Location: 3021 Race St, Fort Worth, TX 76111
Coffee Folk
There is no better time of year to visit Coffee Folk. Located East of downtown, Coffee Folk is a small and great looking trailer with a walk up window surrounded by a few seating areas and tables. The service is warm and friendly and after grabbing a great cup of coffee, sitting in their courtyard/backyard feeling area and hanging out in this 65-70 degree morning weather is nothing short of ideal. Give their pour overs a try - you won’t be disappointed.
Ampersand
Originally I had mixed feelings about Ampersand - were they a coffee-first or bottle-service-first kind of place? Their original location over in 7th seemed heavily focused on what I would describe as a late night crowd with their hidden speakeasy club. However, in recent years they’ve put much more emphasis on coffee and the quality of that coffee and its turned my ship around - particularly their TCU location, which has since expanded into even more space on the campus’ main strip. They’ve done a great job creating a space for locals and college students alike to work and study while grabbing a cup. The space on campus is also much more focused on coffee culture and they’ve won me over with it. If you’re ever headed to DFW Airport Terminal C in need of a pick me up, they also just opened up a location in the airport!
West 7th Location: 3009 Bledsoe St, Fort Worth, TX 76107
TCU Location: 3025 S University Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76109
DFW Airport Location: 2400 Aviation Dr, Dallas, TX 75261 (Terminal C Gat 36)
Cafe Momento
Cafe Momento is a relatively new addition to the Fort Worth coffee scene. Nustled into the futureistic micro-development right off of Magnolia that is also home to Maiden, the vegan tasting menu concept, and Dreamboat donuts. There’s something aestheticly pleasing about the Cafe Momento space and the different beverage options are great. Plus, the walk up window for to-go is an amazing addition given its close proximity to the walk-heavy street of Magnolia. It might be the building itself or the style they’ve curated, but Cafe Momento feels almost like a futuristic coffee shop, while still feeling exceptionally welcoming.
Location: 1200 6th Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104
Match Point Coffee
The true new kid on the block in the Fort Worth coffee scene: Match Point Coffee is a tennis-themed coffee shop located over off 7th and Montgomery (near UNT Health Science Center and Saint Emilion). It seems like a no brainer location to serve the Arlington Heights and Monticello neighborhoods and with the overall aesthetic and feeling of the shop, they nailed their demographic. It has a subtle preppy feel, but it’s clear they care about the quality of their coffee and the experience of their guests. And for any of you aspiring podcasters out there, they happen to have a podcast room for rent by the hour with professional grade podcasting equipment. Maybe you’ll be seeing a Fort Worth Founded podcast coming soon with this kind of accessibility!
Location: 3618 W 7th St B, Fort Worth, TX 76107

Other Fort Worth Coffee Shops:
While we do what we can to focus on and primarily support/highlight locally operated and owned businesses, there are a few other coffee shops in town that are worth noting. These are what we consider “corporate” coffee shops, though there are no corporations to be seen, just spots that have a handful of locations and aren’t specifically based in Fort Worth:
White Rhino Coffee
White Rhino was founded out in Waxahachie and since opening in an old two story house back in 2007 has expanded to 15 locations across DFW. We’re proud to have one in the heart of Fort Worth, in between Rosedale and Fort Worth. White Rhino is a great spot to meet friends if you’re looking for a good cup of joe along with a bite to eat.
Location: 1217 8th Ave Ste 101, Fort Worth, TX 76104
Common Grounds Coffee
You may see the name and think, “like the coffee house right next to Baylor’s campus in Waco?” Yeah, that’s just the one. Similar to their Waco location, Common Grounds in Fort Worth is located just a few blocks off of TCU’s campus and is a hotspot for caffeinated students. Around this time of year (plus in the Spring), they’ll open up their big garage doors and it becomes a great place to hang on the porch and soak in the great weather.
Location: 3110 Greene Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76109
Summer Moon Coffee
Summer Moon’s primary proposition is that they roast their beans over open flames - as opposed to most coffee roasters using a coffee roasting machine. Summer Moon has two locations, but the primary one we visit is located a bit further South on South Main than most of the hustle and bustle, but never fails to be busy. The second is towards the West 7th area near Chuy’s in the old Mudsmith coffee location. Their drinks primarily focus on the seasonal flavors and folks that like more latte styled drinks, but it’s for sure worth giving their first roasted beans a try in a black cup of coffee.
South Main Location: 625 S Main St, Fort Worth, TX 76104
West 7th Location: 817 Matisse Dr #445, Fort Worth, TX 76107
La La Land (Opening Soon)
Here at Fort Worth Founded we’re proudly NOT DALLAS. However, this Dallas-based coffee brand is just too joyful (check out their website if you don’t know what we’re talking about!) for us to give them a strike for that. One thing we do love about their upcoming opening on Camp Bowie is their intentionality in investing in the Fort Worth community and bringing one of their shops to town. This soon-to-be-open shop is right off Camp Bowie and 30, in an old Smothie King. The benefit of that building is the convenient drive through and window for all the folks in Rigmar and Ridglea Hills heading into work in the morning!
Location (Opening Soon): 5733 Camp Bowie Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76107
