Bodega South Main at 203 S Main Street is a Near Southside corner store and cafe doing everything from scratch and doing it well. The concept sits at the intersection of neighborhood bodega and gourmet deli: house-made gourmet paninis built on Boar's Head meats (the Cuban, Reuben, Turkey and Brie, and Ham and Gouda are the ones people come back for), fresh-baked pastries including cinnamon rolls and chantilly cream cake, soups, bagels with house-made schmears, quiche, and grab-and-go items made daily in-house. The coffee program rounds out the morning side of things. It's the kind of place South Main needed — a small, neighborhood-rooted spot where everything feels considered and nothing comes from a bag. Open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, closed Sunday.
