Temporarily Closed as of June 23rd, 2026. We will update this listing as they get closer to reopening Roy Pope as a new concept.
Roy Pope Grocery at 2300 Merrick Street is a west Fort Worth institution since 1943, and its next chapter is one worth watching. The neighborhood grocery and market, which has anchored the blocks just off the Camp Bowie Bricks for over 80 years, is currently closed for renovation under a new partnership with Westland Hospitality, the Fort Worth restaurant group behind Pulido's Kitchen & Cantina, Margie's Italian Gardens, and West Side Cafe. The new Roy Pope will retain the name and the neighborhood character while adding a refreshed dining program rooted in Southern Americana and developed by Westland partners Gigi Howell and Juan Rodriguez alongside Margie's executive chef Levi Gardner, the 2026 CultureMap Rising Star Chef of the Year. The grocery and butcher counter roots stay intact. The vibe gets a serious culinary upgrade. Opening timeline to be confirmed.
